USSA Watersports Event 2008

Pictures From The USSA Event
I’ve been in Central Wisconsin this past week for the annual July Outdoor Water Sports event for the United Special Sportsman’s Alliance. With over 150 kids and their families coming to the event, it was as great as ever. I really look forward to this event each year, where may kids that endure critical and life-threatening illnesses come to just have a good time. It is 3 days of pandemonium, with fishing, camping, archery, swimming, jet-skis, music and a multitude of other outdoor games. Many of the new kids this year were very young, but they all had a blast.
I spend most of my time taking them fishing in a pontoon boat, and playing my guitar in between at the main tent. Aside from that I’m pretty much running around with them being a kid myself. There were many familiar faces that have come each year, and many new faces. There are also the memories of those faces that could not come back, as they have gone on to a much better place. Year after year, we all feel like family.
The pictures are some of the kids I got to fish with and spend time with. It’s a huge blessing to have them in my life. Words cannot describe how meaningful so many of these moments are. Through children we find the brilliant and unconditional love of Christ, and it is amazing.
The only downside was that several families could not come due to the cost of travel/fuel. As if the struggles of serious illnesses and medical bills are not enough. There were some we really missed this year.

Live for Christ –
It’s not a matter of displaying the “works” we do for God. It’s a matter of passing on the inspiration from the way we live our lives because of God, where He has changed our lives and given us new direction. A “pat on the back” could never compare to the immense blessings we receive from what God does in us when we let Him. The kudos belongs to Him.
And finally I want to pass along a special happy birthday wish to Jazzy May, who turned 10 today. (July 21). I met her here at the USSA event a year ago, and she could not be here this year. Happy Birthday, Jazzy May! Many of us miss you desperately, and you know how much I love you!
